In every area of her work and life, Dr. Weaver promotes civic engagement in an effort to “be the change [she] wants to see in the world.” Her upbringing in the Bronx, New York, in addition to being a first-generation American and the first in her family to attend college, exposed her to a variety of issues affecting human and community development. That exposure motivated her to develop the skills needed to design, manage, and assess the efficacy of programs that address social issues.
Dr. Weaver has led and engaged in service-learning programs throughout the United States, the Middle East, and Africa. Her projects include female empowerment programs, Hurricane Katrina and Sandy disaster restoration efforts, and creating spaces of inclusion for homeless individuals.
Dr. Weaver also served as the Policy and Program Chair on the Board of Trustees for the Center for Environmental Transformation in Camden, New Jersey.
