About

What is social entrepreneurship?

Social enterprises are organizations that intentionally strive to combat social problems such as poverty, unemployment, food waste, discrimination and more. They may be legally structured as nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses (e.g. Benefit Corporations), or a combination of both.

Mission of IISE

The mission of IISE, formerly Weaver’s Social Enterprise Directory (WSED), is to inspire, educate, and equip social entrepreneurs with the tools needed to advance communities.

In 2018, WSED started as the largest national database for social enterprises in the United States. In 2022, due to demand, we transformed into a global training company for social entrepreneurs - people that aim to run companies (mostly small businesses) that offer them financial freedom while also improving communities they care about.

Our focus is on equipping entrepreneurs to be good to themselves and their communities.

Social Mission

The International Institute for Social Entrepreneurship is an independently run social enterprise that was created by me, Dr. Rasheda L. Weaver. My social mission is to spread awareness about how social entrepreneurship can be utilized as a tool for econoic prosperity, social well-being, and personal fulfillment to people across the world. IISE is a Benefit Corporation, which is a for-profit social enterprise legal entity. However, I donate a portion of my sales to different charities  annually.
